Purpose: to study the influence of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection carriers on the development of somatic diseases of victims at the remote period after Chernobyl NPP accident and elaborate recoendations for mitigation of this influence. Methods of study: detection of anti-CMV antibodies by the particle agglutination and ELISA methods, immunophenotyping of peripheral blood leucocytes by means of monoclonal antibodies immunefluorescent staining, anibody concentration by radial immunodiffusion; biochemical methods of oxidative homeostasis estimation; mathematical ans statistical. Devices: fluorimeter-nefelometer Sumal-PE2 (DDR), centrifuges К-80 and S-70, laser flow cytometer FAСScan (Becton Dickinson, USA), inverted microscops Sedival, Opton, Jenavert (Germany), personal computers. Total number of investigated persons was 1840 including 425 studied in 2002. An analysis of CMV reactivation frequency and prevalence of dsfferent nosological forms of somatic diseases was realized. Statistically significant increase of CMV reactivation has been proved for clean-up-workers and ARS reconvalescents. Among CMV-positive people a relative increase of chronic gastritis, chronic obstructive bronchitis and bronchial asthma was revealed, as well as a tendency to increase of hypertonic disease and diabetes mellitus. Peculairities of cellular and humoral immunity and oxidative systems of the body were analyzed. An assumption about ionizing radiation as an independent CMV reactivation cause was substantiated. Three works were published in the frame of the study item.
