In the frame of this project, voltammetric methods have been invented in the Marine Hydrophysical Institute, Sevastopol, Ukraine. On sea investigations have been carried out on board the R/V Knorr (May 23 - June 9, 2001). Data synthesis and modeling suggested lateral injection of O2 with the waters of the Bosporus plume into the suboxic and anoxic zone. To detect lateral O2 injection into the southwest Black Sea we have used coupled CTD and in situ electrochemical instrumentation to measure O2 and H2S at 1-meter vertical resolution. Sulfide oxidation by the lateral flux of O2 extends toward the center of the Black Sea's western gyre (> 80 nautical miles from the Bosporus) affecting the total budget of sulfide in the Black Sea.
