The investigation shows that the real and relative sizes of thyroid gland of children, who live in relatively clean zone (group I) are lower then those of children and teenagers who have received low radiation doses (II group). There are 45.7% of children with non-homogeneous structure of thyroid gland, 82.9% - with iodine lack, 26.9% of children with no additional diseases. Among the children of II group there are 32.4% with non-homogeneous structure of thyroid , 70% - with iodine lack, 16.7% of children are almost healthy. Children of III group were real and relative sizes of thyroid gland are higher then those of the I and II groups of children, 31.3% with non-homogeneous structure, 31.4% of children are almost healthy. No deviations of thyroid hormone has been noticed. It has been proved that a high level of diffuse goiten prevalence among children and teenagers of Skvirskiy region, whowere xposed to radiation under condition of goiten endemny, is determined not only by the act of radiation but also by the number of factors, one of which is a lack of iodine, as well as other exogenous and endogenous factors of non-radiation nature. On the basis of investigation among the 406 children, it has been chosen 300 of them. They have been divided into groups for applying preventive measures directed on the prophylaxis of thyroid pathology with the help of medicines with iodine and BAS.
