It is shown, that process of cooling and crystallization of cylindrical billets essentially differs from the cooling process of rectangular ones. Specific examples of calculation of thermal condition and cooling modes of round and square billets are represented. Thermal loadings and temperature fields for long rollers are calculated. The results being obtained allow to define the rational modes of cooling of rollers for slab continuously-casting machine. The results of scientific-and-research work were being used during the designing of continuously-casting machine for manufacture of continuously-casting round and square billets.
