Head Fedoruk R., Registration Date 18-03-2004 Organization The open joint stock company " The Ukrainian research institute of refractories named A.S.Berezhnoy" popup.description2 The research object - siliconcarbide refractories produced by means of a reaction sintering.The work purpose - perfecting main technological parameters for the manufacture of silicon carbide refractories by means of reaction sintering and outlet of trial lots.The research methods - petrographycal, physicomechanical, electronmicroscopic, thermophysical.The research on the milling of finedispersive silicon in a liquid nitrogen was carried out and it was shown that it is advisable to use milled silicon compared with initial fine dispersive silicon when producing siliconcarbide refractories. Optimum milling time (2hours), as well as an amount of silicon to be introduced into the composition of the blend (15-20%) was established .Produced silicon has more higher dispersivity and another shape of particles compared with fine dispersive silicon which ensures a silicon nitride synthesis at temperatures 1350-1370o C and the manufacture of refractories with more dense structure. It was establiched that properties of vibratory cast samples by 1,5-2 times higher compared with samples to be produced using a semidry pressing (strength-280 against 180 MPa; thermal conductiving 15-16 against 9-10 Wt/m K). An influence of a carbon component addition on properties of silicon carbide refractories was researched. It was ascertained that a graphite addition in an amount of 1-3% results in the formation of more porous structure and in reducing of properties indices and therefore its introduction in indicated amount is unadvisable. The research on finalizing and putting into production a manufacture technology of silicon carbide refractories of intricately shaped form using a vibratory casting method was carried. The vibration time, the moisture of mixes as well as a firing schedule were specified. A trial sample of product as a tube of 700 mm length using a vibratory casting with such properties : mass share,%:SiC-74,5, N2-6,2, Si-0,6; open porosity -16,7%; compresion strengh-276,3 MPa was produce. In accordance with contracts trial lots of products of different standatd sizes were produced both by means of the vibratory casting method and by means of semidry pressing. The work should be continued for the purpose of subsequent perforning a manufacturing technology of silicon carbide refractories using a reaction sintering and broadening introduction volumes.
