Subject: to study the appropriatenesses of the environmental contamination and formation of the health of population in the industrial cities - the centers of ferrous metallurgy. Dynamics and territorial peculiarities of the atmospheric pollution of the industrial cities have been determined, an assessment of the degree of its safety has been performed; territorial peculiarities of soil contamination with heavy metals have been designated. Methods of the integral assessment for the atmospheric air population and soil contamination and criterion scales of their assessment have been proposed. Ranging of the industrial cities by the safety degree of atmospheric air population and indices of the morbidity of population have been carried out.
