The purpose of the work is development of fundamental and applied researches for waveguide transmission lines, definition of requirements of the optimum matching, trans-mission of the self-imaging, a focusing and conservation of polarisation of laser beams by their transmission on waveguides of the different cross-section. Using presentation of an input field as a spectrum of propagating modes or the ray tubes laying in the meridional planes of the waveguide and intersected only on its axis are proposed new mode and geometrooptical calculation procedures of a radiation propagation in waveguide transmission lines at their excitation by nonuniform beams of Gaussian type radiation of the different order. The similitude relationship for a attenuation constant of mo-de ЕН11 in glass waveguides, used for transmission lines and laser cells in a submillimeter wavelength range is obtained. Requirements of optimum excitation hollow dielectric and metal waveguides are established by nonuniform beams of radiation of Gaussian type. Con-ditions of conservation of polarisation of exciting beam are defined by its transmission on waveguides. Requirements of imaging of an input field distribution are established at excita-tion of dielectric waveguides by Gaussian beams of the different order with flat phase front and in view of effect of its curvature. Conversion devices of a radiation beams with a Gaussian field distribution in a beam having a high ratio of an energy concentration on an axis are proposed The investigation results can be used at designing and making transmission lines of submillimeter range in transmission systems of the information, diagnostic of plasma, spec-troscopy, medicine.
