The relationship between О2- generation, structural-functional state of mitochondria and prooxidant-antioxidant balance under control and calorie restricted diet was investigated. It was established that the rate of О2- generation in submitochondrial particles of old rats liver in control was higher then in young animals and under calorie restricted diet it wasn't changed. Intensity of mitochondria respiration and cytochrome oxidase didn't change during aging and significantly decreased in response on calorie restricted diet. The rate of mitochondria high-amplitude swelling in liver of 24-month-old rats was increased and under calorie restricted diet it was decreased to the level of 3-month-old control rats. Mitochondria lipid peroxidation intensity was decreased in 24-month-old control rats in 1,8 times and in 24-month-old experimental rats - in 2,7 times in comparison with 3-month-old rats. The use of calorie restricted diet led to the significant increase of selenium-dependent glutathione peroxidase activity of mitochondria.
