The aim of the study is to find out specific features of individual and collective memory in contemporery Ukrainian society under the transformation. Methodology. Quantitative methodo (tests and experiments) and qualitative methodo (narrative and discourse analysis). This study is directed to the research of individual and collective memory in the society under the transformation. Main approaches to the collective and social memory are considered, and the subject of the research and its methodology are determined. An issue of a long-term emotional memory in different social groups is introduced. The necessity of examining the age characteristics of school students' memory and controlling its development is proved. Motivational aspects of memory will be studied as an influence of the leading motives of an individual on the processes of memory. A review of scientific sources is made to construct a computer model of motivation with the help of mnemonic processes.
