Work purpose - perfecting a manufacture technology of thixotropic runner mix of corundumsilicon carbide composition and the manufacture of trial lots. Research methods - physico-mechanical, chemical, petrographical. Industrial tests of thixotropic mix prepared from a mixture of previously worked out by the institute in the service in lining of a fragment of transport slag runner of blast furnace were carried out. Satisfactory results of the first industrial tests of a mix worked out by the institute make up 28 complete days and during of this period of time 20,7 thousands tons of slag were passed througt a runner. Research of influence of aluminium content in thixotropic runner mix on their properties indices as well as an influence of diluting additives on a flowability of mix were carried out. The possibility to exclude mettallic aluminium (aluminium in a form of metal) frrom the composition of previously worked out by the institute thixotropic corundum silicon carbide runner mix without a deterioration of its properties was shown and in that way the correlation of diluting additives ADS 1 and ADW 1 equal to 1: 1 was substantiated. Indices of properties of improved thixotropic runner mix: mass share, %, - Al2O3 - 77,0; SiC - 12,5; CaO - 0,9;compression strengh of mix after firing at temperature 1500o C - 50,2 N/mm2. Trial lot of fired lock products for the casting of non-ferrious metals was produced. Products were produced from thixotropic runner mix of corundum siliconcarbide composition. The work should be continued for the purpose of industrial testing of thixotropic mix in the service with a liquid iron and an introduction into practical field of application.
