Methods of research: chemical analysis, structure-phase investigations, thermomechanical and physico-mechanical tests.The laboratory- technological investigations on the composition selection of furnace feeds of periclase-chromite refractories with using of magnesia piece scrap have been conducted out. In the pilot-production plant of OJSC "The Ukrainian Research Institute of Refractories named after A.S. Berezhnoy" the pilot batches of periclase-chromite refractories in have been manufactured .Specification figures: open porosity - 16.2%; ultimate stress - 69 N/mm2, thermal resistance - 6 thermal changes, initial softening temperature - 1640оС. Periclase-chromite mass for the lining of burner cover plate has been manufactured.The pilot batch of periclase flue tubes, intended for kryptol furnaces, which have properties: open porosity - 20.4% and apparent porosity - 2.85 g/cm3 10 in numbers has been produced.Under the laboratory engineering development the pilot batches of powder of magnesia content have been manufactured.The pilot batch of bath roasting-free five- riffles plates having: open porosity - 15.4%; ultimate stress - 34.1 N/mm2; Тs.d. - 1580 оС has been released.
