The purpose of the work is the opportunity revelation of green drying of large dimension refractory products using vacuum and pilot batches output of chromic oxide refractories. Methods of research are chemical and differential thermal analysis (DTA), optical microscopy, standard techniques of mass proportion determination of damp in masses and samples, of open porosity, apparent density, crushing strength of refractories. The vacuum drying apparatus for green drying of one large dimension chromic oxide product is developed and assembled, in which the heating of a product occurs simultaneously with pumping. It is established, that vacuum drying of the green of pressed and vibrocast chromic oxide samples from fine masses has considerably smaller duration in comparison with drying at atmospheric pressure. Research of properties of the samples dried up in vacuum has shown, that the heatingat temperature 60 °С and pressure of 14 mm of mercury column was optimal of all checked drying regimes. It is established, that drying of teme binders, intended for half-dry pressing and a vibrocasting, occurs in series in two stages: water evaporates easier and at lower temperature, and for evaporation of organic substances long regime and higher temperature are required. The kinetics of green drying of large dimension vibrocast chromic oxide blocks from fine masses is investigated at various regimes. The optimum regime of vacuum drying is developed according to which the recommended flow diagram of vacuum green drying of chromic oxide products is established. The drying time of products green in vacuum decreases by 10 times in comparison with drying at atmospheric pressure. Crushing strength and residual dampness of the dried green of chromic oxide blocks are sufficient for transportation of blocks to the furnace and reception of quality products after firing. According to orders of companies and accordingto ТИ 24-ИО-93-2003 acting technological instruction with amendment № 1, pilot batches of pressed and vibrocast chromic oxide refractories are manufactured and transferred for service. Properties factors of products meet the requirements of ТУУ 26.2-00190503-229-2002 for ХОСУ grade.
