The purpose of the work is to develop the theory of system complex mapping of Ukrainian regions, in particular, to reveal its essence and justify the principles, content, directions, scales, mapping sources. Structure and the content of separate integrated maps, series of maps and atlases, means of representation, recommendations on generalization of content's elements; development of designing methodology: making of complex regional mapping works by the means of GIS-technologies; making of experimental samples or legends of administrative district's mapping works; grounding of basic principles of the program of system complex mapping of regions of Ukraine.The task of this first stage is to develop of theory of system complex mapping of Ukrainian regions.Practical realization of theoretical principles is creation of experimental samples (fragments) or legends of original complex maps of administrative district. Research activities are based upon the newest achievements of methodology of scientific cognition, system theory, theory and experience of thematic mapping of and carrying out of theoretical and experimental works.
