Karazin popup.description2 Object of studies is metal films on semiconductor substrates. The aim of the project is to investigate the general rules of formation, structure and phase state of Bi films on Si and Ge substrates versus their characteristic size and preparation conditions. The research methods. Films were obtained by means of vacuum condensation. The films structure was explored by high-energy electron diffraction, transmission and scanning electron microscopy and X-Ray diffraction methods. The temperature region of existence of supercooled liquid phase for Bi islands on Ge and single-crystalline Si substrates of various orientation has been deter-mined. The crystallization temperature of Bi islands and wetting angles in Bi-Si and Bi-Ge systems have been measured. The distribution of islands over size under film melting and its evolution with decreasing of Bi film thickness have been de-termined. The main results are received for the first time.
