The purpose of the work is production technology improvement of composite nonswirl nozzles for continuous steel casting. Methods of researches are chemical, petrographic analyses of initial components and composite nonswirl nozzles on their basis. With the purpose of raw-material base expansion, the researches of an opportunity of partial (30 %) application of chamotte of ШК-42 grade, while nonswirl nozzle cold part production, produced at OJSC "Vatutinsky refractory centre" instead of the nowadays used normal electrocorundum of OJSC "ZAK" production or fused corundum of OJSC "The Ukrainian research institute of refractories named after A. S. Berezhnoy" production were performed. As a result of the executed researches, the opportunity of partial replacement (30 %) of electrocorundum powders in the composition of a cold part of composite nonswirl nozzles on powders of 1-0,5 mm chamotte fraction of ШК-42 grade is established. The basic properties factors of samples remain rather high when compared with similar properties factors of samples without the addition, (after firing at 1580°С), namely: open porosity 16,8 against 14,0 %, crushing strength 153 against 126 МPа, thermal stability (1300°С-air.) 3 against 4 therm., Т06 > 1750°С refractoriness 1790 against 1960°С. The application of this material also allowed to expand the raw-material base for composite nonswirl nozzles production for continuous steel casting. In OJSC "The Ukrainian research institute of refractories named after A. S. Berezhnoy" the technology production of composite nonswirl nozzles with use while manufacturing their cold part of normal electrocorundum is mastered and trial lots of composite nonswirl nozzles, which correspond to requirements of ТУ У 26.2-00190503-264-2004 (СЦК grade) according to their properties factors, are put out and delivered to the consumer for МНЛЗ commercial ladles application.
