The purpose of the work - improvement of runner clay composition for blast furnaces. Methods of researches - physical-mechanical, chemical and petrographic. Laboratory researches of aluminium silicate amount influence of natural raw material, introduced into thixotropic runner clay composition instead of electrocorundum are carried out. The opportunity of electrocorundum partial replacement both in granulous, and fine-milled part is shown.Comparative researches of various plastifiers influence on flowability of thixotropic runner clay are carried out. Optimal types of plastifiers and their amounts are determined. Thixotropic runner clay composition is improved due to the use of aluminium silicate natural raw material and optimal type of plastifier, that allows to expand raw-material base of its production. From thixotropic runner clay, trial lots of stopping products in the form of tubes and stoppers, used for regulation of copper melts pouring, are fabricated and put to the customer. To continue the work towards further composition perfection and industrial tests of thixotropic mass in lining of blast furnaces spouts, as well as introduction of its application.
