A research purpose is the analysis of ideological, symbolic, historical and philosophical constituents of the national and cultural identity of habitants of Russian-Ukrainian contact area, creation and ground of method of empiric research of it to the phenomenon, сomparative analysis of identities Border culture in modern Ukraine. The methods of research of the national and cultural identity are social constructing, mythological, dominating ethnic model and others like that. Results is research work of participants of project found the reflection in the published articles, appearances on a scientific international symposium "Regional the "capitals" of Ukraine: searches of new identity" (Kharkov, 2006), scientific congress of ACLS (Rostov, 2006), and also on the special seminar on history of Kharkov in the center of Slavic Studies in Sapporo (Sapporo, 2006 ).
