The purpose of work: to discover the contents and to show the peculiarities of social policy of a state, conditions and ways of its realization in Ukraine. The impact of socio-cultural and economic factors, tendencies of globalization force to analyze the contents of social policy in a different way, what is also determined by the necessity of the construction of educational society, based on the economy of knowledge. The methods of research: theoretical - descriptive. The author is discovered a New role of social policy in the conditions of market economy formation in Ukraine, which would help to solve completely the problems of the rise of level and quality of life of all population in a country, and not only a rich layer of population. The main results of the work are got for the first time their actuality is determined by the necessity of the definition of main theoreticaland practical basis of the formation of social policy of Ukrainian state in the conditions of growing socio - economic contradictions under the influence of the tendencies of globalization. The results of SRW may be used by scientific and educational institutions, which deal with the research of socio - economic processes, the preparation of specialists in economics.
