The aim of the was development of possible directions of intensification of the process of heat transfer by modernization of the existent coolers, all possible variants of intensification of the primary cooling of gas were developed and analyzed on the two stage basis. As an optimum decision а combination of variants was accepted, providing the possibility of two stages cooling in a single cooler with its insignificant modernization. The new method of cooling of gas suggests the use of intermediate heat carrier circulating water-tar condensate during heat transfer to be bundle. A preliminary determination on the expected efficiency of gas cooling was executed under the new conditions, according to which the load ion a typical IGC (after modernization) could be increased by 1.5-2 times.
