It is determined that not more than 30% of adduct of coal with iron chlorides is stable in the water environ-ment. Coal adducts with catalytic quantities of transition metals are obtained. Based on the methods of X-ray analysis, porosity, oxygen-containing functional groups and static exchange capacity of the samples it is concluded that during the experiment no profound reor-ganisation of permolecular coal structure takes place. And the ab-sorptive capacity of the obtained samples towards Cu and Pb, is higher if comparing with initial coal. The coal adduct shows its highest activity with Co nitrate.
