Main characteristics of the stress-strained state of the wedge shaped indenter have been derived for the both smooth and frictional contact conditions, for the different materials, and for opening angle values. The pattern of singularity of contact stresses has been derived, and the conditions of finite stresses distribution have been obtained. Mathematical models of contact of indenter with a half-plane under sliding and adhesion conditions in the indentation zone have been built up. Boundaries of these zones have been found and asymptotical evaluations have been obtained. Solution for the indenter of polynomial shape has been derived. Mathematical models of the acoustic wave source for the microindentation of fragile materials have been built up. Characteristics of the acoustic field generated by the ensemble of micro destructions have been found. Interpretation of results of experiments on the microindentation of small fragile samples with the film coverings has been performed.
