The research project aims at developing models for electrodynamic processes in electrically active middle atmosphere and at revealing new mechanisms for their coupling to the general near-Earth environment state. The research project applies methods of aeronomy, space dynamics and electrodynamics, random signal processing, the "Differential Absorption" technique, and Kharkiv V. Karazin National University MF radar. The cluster of techniques for probing the coupling of the electrically active mesosphere and D-region plasma has been developed and validated. The overall minimum measurement error is equal to approximately 20%, while the maximum error can attain a value of 40 - 50%. The technique has been applied to the MF radar data collected over many years in the Ukraine and Canada. The MF radar electric field data obtained in this work permit such characteristics of the electrically active mesosphere as the following to be determined: the electron temperature, fractional loss of energy per electron collision with a heavy particle, relative disturbances in the electron plasma conductivity, relative electron number densities, relative positive and negative ion number densities, the electric current density in the 60-70-km altitude range, disturbances in the effective electron-positive ion recombination rate, disturbances in the effective attachment rates of electrons to air molecules and in the effective detachment rates of electrons from negative ions, etc. MESOSPHERE, MF RADAR, LARGE MESOSPHERIC ELECTRIC FIELDS, IONOSPHERIC D REGION, MEASUREMENT TECHNIQUES, MF RADAR DATA Report disposal conditions: contract purchasing.
