Center "Kharkov Institute for Physics & Technology" of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Continuous thermal-vacuum power-saving method of zirconium oxide production by means of simultaneous dehydration and refinement of zirconium hydroxide has been developed. Developed method allows to diminish technological process of zirconium oxide production, reduce electric energy consumption per unit weight of final product and provide required humidity, density, porosity and particle size. The method incorporates vacuumization and thermal heating. The results of research have shown the dependence of drying rate of zirconium hydroxide and production rate of zirconium oxide on surface area of source material, particle size and pore number for fixed power level of heater. Drying efficiency depends on delivered heat for material heating, intensity of moisture drift inside the material and rate of moisture removal from body surface. Therefore one have to seek for reduction of fraction size in source material, enhancement of material heating rate and reduction of pressure in ambient medium in order to speed up technological procedure of zirconium oxide production. In vacuum volume production procedure for zirconium oxide is substantially simplified, drying temperature of zirconium hydroxide is reduced, technological procedure of zirconium oxide production becomes faster. Obtained results are a consequence of novel engineering design. Utilized technology includes physical, mechanical and electron-optical research methods.
