Head Kostenko Vitaliy Alexandrovich, Registration Date 03-03-2009 Organization Higher state educational establishment of Ukraine "Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academi " of Ministry Public Health of Ukraine popup.description2 The obtained results have shown that under the chronic sodium nitrate intoxication superoxide production by mitochondrial and microsomal electronic-transporting chains is increased, while superoxide production by leukocyte NADPH-oxidase is reduced; processes of lipid peroxidation become more active, ATP resyntesis is suppressed, general proteolytic activity increase as well as disorganization of connective tissue structures in the gastric mucous membranes, periodontium and small intestine of Wistar white rats. All these have determinated the structural changes in the organs. It has been found out that the decreasing in nitric oxide production by the NO-syntase systems under the modelling of chronic sodium nitrate intoxication limits the reduction of energy production and superoxide anion-radical production by microsomal electronic transporting chain in the cell of gastric mucous membrane as well as by leukocyte NADPH-oxidase. Selective suppression of inducible NO-syntase results in the reduction of lipoperoxidation, while the total inhibition of NO-syntase (including constitutional) promotes the activation of the process. It has been revealed introduction of mineral-based crankcase oil under 60-days sodium nitrate intoxication increases superoxide anion-radical production in mitochondrial electron-transport chain in the periodontium. At that the increase of superoxide anion-radical production in microsomal electron-transport chain is limited in the gastric mucosa and small intestine. The superoxide anion-radical production in leukocytes NADPH-oxidase increases in periodontium as well as in the mucous coat of stomach and small intestine, but this significantly decreases in the case of isolated sodium nitrate intoxication.
