The most substantial results which contain a scientific novelty consist in such: going is generalized near the analysis of essence of the banking system with the use of theory of the systems, that enabled to describe the banking system as large dynamic purposeful open system; the criteria of the stable functioning and steady development of the banking system are worked out and reasonable taking into account her specific properties her special place and role in the financial and macroeconomic systems, and also going out principles of general theory of the systems; the methods of estimation of efficiency of functioning of the banking system of Ukraine are offered, worked out on the basis of the use of the multidimensional statistical grouping of banks after the level of ROA and capital and others like that.
