It is established that at steel works of Ukraine the basic part of heat waste energy is steam from heat-recovery boilers and evaporative cooling systems at producing open-hearth steel (43%). Replacement of open-hearth process by converter one will increase iron and blast furnace gas production as well as will reduce waste energy generation. Raising the level of waste energy use at implementing the innovative programs can be achieved due to application of gas turbines for energy generation at burning of blast furnace, coke oven and converter gas, introduction of up-to-date converter gas coolers, reconstruction of blast furnace cooling systems, equipment of rolling mills with heat-recovery boilers and cooling systems. Implementation of the proposed actions enables decreasing energy consumption from electrical supply networks in Ukraine by 85% and energy resources for producing steam that used as waste energy at the level of 140 Gcal/ th. ton of steel, that meets the best performance of domestic enterprises.
