The distribution of trace elements, natural and man-made radionuclides in soils and vegetation were determined at the studied sites. In the soils of zones of influence of Trypilia and Burshtyn TP's some elements (Pb, Zn, Cu, Ni, Hg, Mn, Cr) showed the contents, exceeding those of clean soils, heavy metal pollution of soils in the zone of Burshtyn TP being more significant than that in the zone of Trypillia TP. By experimental research of sorption of 137Cs sod-podzolic soils it was found that 137Cs ion exchange absorption occurs at the reaction centers of two types and its unexchange sorption - at the reaction centers of three types. Rate constants of 137Cs adsorption/desorption and fixation/remobilization for each type of centers were determined. The rate constants of 137Cs fixation by soil at III-type centers were found to be commensurate with the values of 137Cs immobilization rate constants determined earlier by the authors in situ for contaminated soils of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.
