The method of the study: medical informatics; descriptive epidemiology; system and component analysis.The dynamic models of cancer incidence, sex and age features of cancer incidence in urban population of Ukraine in 1998-2007; demographic structure; dynamics of age-specified cancer incidence and cancer mortality rates in urban population of Ukraine; state of oncological care; quality of the personified data on cancer cases and cancer deaths in population of the largest cities of Ukraine have been studied and the main ways of their improvement have been determined. It has been revealed that in 1998-2007 the level of cancer incidence in male population of large cities of Ukraine increased from 321,7 to 369,3 per 100 000 of population, in females - from 303,9 to 356,4 per 100 000 of population. During the same period, cancer mortality rates have been increasing in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovs'k, and Lviv per 0,1 2,5 % annually, decreasing in Donets'k and Kharkiv per 1,2 1,5 % annually. In female population cancer mortality rates have been decreasing in all cities per 0,1 2,4 % annually, but in Lviv, where the rate has been increasing per 0,3 % annually. The deaths from cancer of able-bodied population in large cities results in annual loss of 2042,3 - 7154,5 person-years in males and 1210,9 - 4515,6 person-years in females; hereupon, the economic damage of the state achieves 997,8 million of grivnia. he 5-year survival rate of cancer patients, who received treatment in oncological institutions, is 17-19 % higher then of those, who received treatment in non-specialized institutions.
