Sections of formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues of 140 cases were stained for estrogen and progesteron receptors, c-kit, Cytokeratin 5/6, TP53 and ki67 antigen expression and analyzed immunohistochemically. We did not find the difference in the expression positivity between the radiation-associated breast cancer and spontaneous breast cancer patients. Her2 gene status was studied by fluorescent in situ hybridization with commercial probe HER2/CEP17 in 138 cases. There was no difference found in HER2 and/or CEP17 FISH profiles between groups of Chernobyl and control breast cancer patients. The BRCA1/2 mutation status was assessed by allele-specific polymerase chain reaction and agarose gel electrophoresis. There was no statistical significant difference found in mutation prevalence between group of radiation-associated breast cancer and spontaneous breast cancer patients (7,1% and 5,7% respectively).
