Purpose - to clarify variants of the design and expected performance of SMR created using the technology of digital antenna arrays (DAA). Research Methods - structural and logical analysis, multicriterial analysis and synthesis of complex technical systems, mathematical modeling. As a result of research: - the analysis and final justification for the construction of SMR based on DAA have been done; - the main technical parameters and characteristics of SMR have been clarified; - the scheme of division of the SMR into its component parts have been developed; - the possibility to achieve the specified performance of SMR have been justified; - the impact of the functioning of the SMR radar on the environment have been evaluated. The results of the first stage of preliminary design of R & D Project have been used in the preparation of design documentation of ground-based SMR.
