Purpose of researches is improving of design and technology of friction units of friction dampers of wagon carts. Research methods are methods of continuum mechanics, energy method of metal forming theory, the method of physical modeling. The design of friction units of cart friction dampers for passenger wagons, the drawings of friction elements of friction dampers (tail and crackers), the new manufacturing techniques for stamping of tail hub and cracker of friction dampers, the working drafts of sets of dies for crackers by hammer and crank press, as well as the recommendations for the full-scale testing of friction units of new design of friction dampers were developed. The new design cracker and tail have maximum contact area, that is independent of their relative position. Using developed semiclosed dies design allows to stamp cracker workpiece with two ribs, that requires very small machining only for three surfaces and allows to get macrostructure of workpiece, which provides the highest strength of workpiece and to reduce the consumption of metal and to decrease the complexity of manufacturing of workpiece due to the absence of fin. The results of researches are recommended for use in the field of railway transport to ensure efficiency and improve performance properties of friction dampers of passenger wagon carts for high-speed railways.
