The object of research - the phenomena of shock waves in ballistic helmets from the breakdown of combat charges (mines, shells, bullets), and processes that prevent their penetration into the body of the helmet. The purpose of the work is to improve the systems of individual protection of a serviceman from the defeat of external elements formed from the breakdown of combat charges (mines, shells, balls) and the development of proposals for a method for assessing the protective properties of ballistic helmets to the draft State (military) standard "Personal protective equipment. Ballistic helmets. General Technical Requirements and Test Methods for Ballistic Stability ". The research method is a comparative analysis of the requirements of the guidance documents regarding the individual protection of a serviceman from fire damage during military operations and special operations operations. In the process of work carried out analysis of the development of ballistic helmets of leading countries of the world and domestic production, using them in the area of anti-terrorist operation and providing ballistic helmets units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; theoretical researches of the dynamic process of interaction of elements of the bursting of a military charge (fragments), balls with a material body - a ballistic helmet on the basis of the theory of composite shells, the study of physical processes of mechanical behavior of a deformable material continuum - a ballistic shaft material. The implementation of the model in the form of settlement algorithms for analyzing the ballistic stability of the helmet is the basis for improving the security systems that can improve design decisions in terms of effective protection. The results of the work are the initial data (suggestions) on the methodology for assessing the protective properties of ballistic helmets to the draft State (military) standard "Personal protective equipment.
