Thirty artesian wells from different districts of the city were examined. Water quality was characterized by more than 60 indices. Analytical methods applied for this purpose included: AAS with flame or electrothermal atomization, spectrophotometry (using solvent extraction when necessary), sorption - X-ray fluorescence, spectrometry, stripping voltammetry, kinetic, gas chromatographic GS-MS analysis etc. The results have been used for estimation of water quality in artesian wells according to the guidelines of Ukrainian State Standard Number 2874-82 as well as Sanitary Rules and Regulations Number 383-96.
