Methods were development for definition of iron and calcium impurities in sodium bicarbonateby atomic absorption spectrofotometry. The advantages of these methods are as follows: low detection limit; short time of analysis; presision. The instrument capability permits to avoid manual design of calibration chart, recalculation of absorbtion signal to concentration, statistical processing of measured data. The introduction of developed methods at soda ash plants of Ukraine and CIS is possible and advised where atomic absorption spectrophotometers are available.
