Aim: improvement of the radiation protection of patients at CT examinations by means of the introdution of the patioent dose monitorimg system in ukrainian hospitals. Methods: In order to evaluate the patient doses from CT examination the data about the frequency, structure and age and sex distribution of the CT examinations carried out in 1998-1999 in Poltava and Kharkov region were collected. The computed tomography dose index were measured using the thermoluminescent dosimeters. Results: It was been shown that the examinations of adults represent 91-93% of the total number of the examinations. The analysis of data indicates that about 67,3% of CT examinations are the rutine examinations of the head. Nevertheless the examinations of abdomen form the main part of the collective dose (45%) for population of this two regions.
