The main attention is paid to joining of historical and microeconomic approaches for studding of theoretic elaborations of Ukrainian scientist. The theory of demand evolution is being traced. The differences of approaches of J.Hiks and E.Slutsky regarding division of effects of income and substitution are being indicated, that enabled to introduce the possibility of econometric embodiment of elaborations of the last one. Головна увага приділена поєднанню історичного та мікроекономічного підходів до вивчення теоретичних розробок українського вченого. Прослідковано еволюцію теорії попиту. Вказано на відмінності в підходах Дж.Хікса та Є.Слуцького до розмежування ефектів доходу та заміщення, що привели до можливості економетричного втілення розробок останнього.
