The ability to switch from scotomorphogenetic to photomorphogenetic development is essential for seedling survival. At the same time, monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous plants differ in the morphology of seedlings grown in the light and in the dark. Today it is known that the initial stages of photomorphogenesis are accompanied by active metabolic changes, phytochrome modification of seedlings, intensive transport and formation of gradients of phytohormones, in particular, gibberellins in the plant, and the intensity of formation of natural inhibitors also changes. Since phytohormones are included in the light signal transduction system, many of the light-regulated reactions of plant development are under their influence. In particular, it is known that the processes of growth and reutilization of compounds during the germination period are implemented with the participation of gibberellins.
