The article examines the role of comparative frame in verbalisation of concept "woman" using English and Ukrainian proverbs as material. This permits to see characteristic associations which constitute concept "woman" in English and Ukrainian cultures. English and Ukrainian proverbs are compared within lingua-cultural approach as a construct of two semiotic systems: culture and language.
