Сабанеева, вошедшего в историю хирургии своими пластическими операциями, в частности, остеопластической ампутацией бедра (Сабанеева операция; 1890, 1897), созданием методики наложения трубчатого желудочного свища (гастростомия по способу Сабанеева; 1890, 1893), первой попыткой операции тромбэктомии бедренной артерии (1895) и др.
