The analysis of methods of estimation of the consequences of extraordinary situations is conducted. Pros and cons of different methods of calculations are found out. Considered methods are shown not to be adapted for determination of losses of anthropogenic catastrophes, as they do not take into account the cascade effects of catastrophes, and also probability of these catastrophes.
