The consumers of drugs, the persons with venereal diseases, the persons with plural sexual contacts, the prisoners, the donors of blood, the pregnant women and their children Were examined. The number of IFA–positive persons was increased with every year. Among HIV–infection persons of the age group 18–29 years dominated. Men composed 73 % of HIV–infection group. The men, consumers of drugs of 18–29 years old, determine the disposition of epidemic in Sumy region. У роботі представлена інформація про поширення ВІЛ–інфекції серед різних груп населення Сумської області протягом 2001–2007 років. Були обстежені споживачі ін’єкційних наркотиків; особи, у яких було виявлено хвороби, що передаються статевим шляхом; особи, що мали численні незахищені сексуальні контакти; особи, що перебувають у місцях позбавлення волі, донори крові; вагітні та діти, включаючи народжених ВІЛ–інфікованими жінками. Кількість ІФА–позитивних осіб зростала з кожним роком. Серед ВІЛ–інфікованих домінувала вікова група 18–29 років. Чоловіки становили 73 % ВІЛ–інфікованих. Чоловіки, що споживають наркотики ін’єкційно, віком 18–29 років визначають характер епідемії в Сумській області.
