By means of scanning and transmission electron microscopy the formation mechanisms of porous Ti condensates on glass and KCl cleaved facets are studied. It is shown by the example of self-assembly of porous Ti layers that the factors underlying such process are self-organization of time-constant critically low effective supersaturation and continuous sequence of interdependent structure and morphology changes of the growth surface that cause the appearance of active centers for attaching adatoms.
