The author examines the not popular till recent time pages of history – creation and activity of the penalty forming. Founded as early as years of civil war, these parts became the mass phenomenon in the years of Great Patriotic war. Their battle appendix to present time remains one of dark, debatable, insufficiently known pages of history to present time. The theme of the penalty forming bore the enormous amount of myths, rumours and legends: “condemned to death from penalty forming”, “barrages detachments that shoot it”, “fields covered by troupes” et cetera. On the basis of earlier undertaken research on this theme, the author shows the real picture of creation, addition and application of the penalty forming on fronts of war. popup.nrat_date 2025-03-24 Close
