У визначених хронологічних рамках досліджується еволюція банківської системи, її структурна побудова та функціональне призначення. На основі широкої джерельної бази систематизовано економіко-правові чинники діяльності банківської системи, особливості її функціонування у різні історичні періоди, визначено місце та роль банків і загалом фінансово-кредитної системи у розвитку суспільства та процесах державотворення. Досліджено виникнення в Україні банківських установ, розкрито механізм управління ними. The monograph highlights the historical process of formation and development of banking institutions in Ukraine, economic and legal principles of their activities from the XVIII century to the early 30-ies of XX century. In certain chronological framework the evolution of the banking system, its structural construction and functionality are investigated. Economic and legal factors of the banking system, especially its functioning in different historical periods, the place and role of banks and financial-credit system in general in the development of society and the process of nation-building are systematized, using the wide source base.
