The Communist Party of Western Ukraine (CPWU), being the autonomous part of the Communist Party of Poland (CPP), belonged to the international communist camp but it simultaneously originated from the left wing of the Ukrainian national movement. There were two streams functioning within it until 1928 – the Ukrainian national communism and pro-Moscow imperial communism. Strong factional divisions occurred in the CPWU itself and within their legal crypto-communist annexes. At the beginning of the 1930s, the Ukrainian national communist was being dissected on Stalin’s orders. Its leaders fell victims to the totalitarian terror and were accused of “national deviation”. popup.nrat_date 2025-11-05 Close
