An attempt to analyze the Labour Reserves system activities on the example of a taken separately institution was made by the author. The economic and socio-cultural aspects of Romny factory training school №5 functioning in 1944-1953 are viewed in the article. The author proposed the periodization of the educational institution history, according to belonging to basic enterprises. During the first period factory training school №5 was preparing workers for footwear manufacturing, and during the second one there were trained cadres for the oil and gas extraction industry. The material ensuring situation of the establishment and the changes in educational process are illustrated. The administrative and teaching staff and the student contingent were characterized.
