Учасник українського національно-визвольного руху кінця ХІХ – початку ХХ ст., соратник Симона Петлюри, один із керівників Української радикально-демократичної партії (УРДП), професор кількох вищих навчальних закладів у Росії, Україні та Чехословаччині, лідер української політичної еміграції в Румунії, він відзначився у багатьох галузях суспільного життя. Зроблено перші кроки у справі оприлюднення творчої й епістолярної спадщини вченого. Проте і нині багато сторінок діяльності К. Мацієвича залишаються невідомими. Among the pleiad of Ukrainian diplomats of the time of the Ukrainian revolution (1917–1921) a special place of honour should be given to Kostiantyn Matsiievych. Being a member of the Ukrainian national liberation movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, an adherent of Symon Petliura, one of the leaders of the Ukrainian Radical Democratic Party (URDP), professor of several higher educational institutions in Russia, Ukraine and Czechoslovakia, leader of Ukrainian political emigration in Romania, he made great progress in many areas of public life. By his life, social and political activity, hard work in the fields of science, culture and education, he proved to be one of the most prominent figures in Ukrainian national liberation movement, fighters for independence of Ukraine. In historical literature he is illustrated quite differently. In the Russian Empire he was known to be a prominent specialist in the field of agricultural science, founder of social agronomy, ideologist of the organizational-productive stream of economic thought. Researchers from Ukraine`s expatriate community highlighted a significant role K. Matsiievych played in the development of social agronomy, agricultural economy and cooperation. In the USSR his name carried a negative connotation, preferably in terms of his work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ukrainian People’s Republic. After Ukraine became independent the interest in life and activity of K. Matsiievych grew. Several short essays on his personality, works about his research and educational, public and diplomatic activity, life in Romania, collaboration with O. Oles and Y. Chykalenko have been published and the first steps toward promulgation of his artistic and epistolary legacy have been made in recent years. However much still remains unknown about K.
