В авторской классификации выделены шесть стратегических направлений по двум критериям The aim of the article is to provide the classification of the strategic directions of scientific and technological development based on studying of the world leading innovation-active companies’ experience. The article describes the key trends of scientific and technological development of the world’s leading innovation-active companies. Based on the analysis of the world’s leading innovation-active companies in the over the past decade the classification of strategic directions of scientific and technological development of enterprises was formed. The authors' classification distinguishes six strategic directions (namely, activity in the field that corresponds to the latest technological arrangement, sharp “revolution” of the traditional industry, acquiring external start-ups, marketing innovations, copying and adaptation, patents creating and selling) according to two criteria (scope of implementation and place of occurrence the innovation ideas). The considered directions are currently the most promising, have been tested by many world’s leading innovation-active companies (i.e. Apple, Google, Microsoft, IBM, Тesla motors, Johnson&Johnson, Bayer, Incyte, General motors, Toyota motor, Tatagroup, Amazon, Facebook, etc.) and have led to a significant growth in sales and profits. Among the considered innovative enterprises those have competitive advantage activities of which are devoted to scientific research and technological innovations. The analysis also allowed to reveal the main directions of the outstripping innovative development of modern enterprises.
