The textbook describes the approaches to the organization of the process of teaching the biology of students in grades 6-9, taking into account the challenges of the new Ukrainian school. The basis of these challenges is the formation of subject (biological) and key competences for students. Main attention is drawn to the implementation of a component approach to competently oriented biology teaching; cross-cutting content lines: "Civic Responsibility", "Environmental Security and Sustainable Development", "Health and Safety" and "Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy", and also features of Biology study in grades 6-9.
