The purpose of the development is the design and modernization of the extruder, in particular its screw. The paper presents technical characteristics, the design and operation principle of the unit for polyethylene granulation are considered, parametric, kinematic, thermal and strength calculations of the worm are performed, confirming the operability and reliability of the machine design. In the project, a literary-patent search was made for the designs of an aggregate for granulating polyethylene in order to select a variant for modernizing the press.
